How to use TAP as a Parent Ambassador

A brief overview of The Ambassador Platform for parent ambassadors.

How do I use TAP as a parent ambassador?

Parent ambassadors play a valuable role in supporting prospective students and their families by sharing their own experiences. TAP makes it easy for parent ambassadors to connect, answer questions, and provide reassurance.

What does a parent ambassador need to do?

  • A parent ambassador is invited to download the TAP app and enter a code unique to the school. This registers their ambassador profile. Admins will provide instructions.

  • The institution then activates the parent ambassador for different types of activities:

    • Chat feature – the profile displays on the school’s website and prospective students or parents can start 1-2-1 conversations.

    • Content feature – the profile does not display on the website, but the parent ambassador can collaborate with others to create social media posts.

    • FAQ feature – the parent ambassador can create written answers to common questions from prospective parents.

  • A parent ambassador may be activated for one or all activities, depending on what the institution’s admin team decides.

What can a parent ambassador do on TAP?

  • Create a profile – add a photo, short bio, and information about their child’s university journey.

  • Answer questions – reply to messages from prospective parents and students.

  • Share content – post FAQs, stories, or short videos from the parent perspective.

  • Join Streams – participate in themed conversations (e.g. “Life as a parent of an international student”).

Tips for being an effective parent ambassador

  • Keep your bio welcoming and clear – highlight your perspective as a parent and the unique insights you can share.

  • Be supportive, not promotional – focus on sharing honest experiences rather than scripted answers.

  • Use simple language – remember many prospective parents may not be familiar with university terminology.

  • Respect privacy – avoid sharing personal details about your child beyond what they are comfortable with.

  • Engage consistently – check TAP regularly to reply to new questions and keep content fresh.

Why parent ambassadors matter

  • Provide reassurance to parents making decisions about their child’s education.

  • Offer practical advice on topics like finances, accommodation, travel, and cultural adjustment.

  • Complement student ambassador insights by adding a parent’s perspective.

We hope you find your work through TAP a rewarding and enjoyable experience, and one that brings you closer to the community at your school. If you ever have any questions for our team, feel free to reach out to us through the chat support in the top left corner of your app.
