What is the TAP Feed and Public Community?
Understanding the TAP Feed, Public Community, and Registration Flow for Prospective Users.
What is the TAP Feed?
The TAP Feed is the public‑facing page embedded on your university website where prospective students can:
- Explore your ambassadors
- Read their content
- Register to start chatting with your university
It requires no invitation and is accessible to anyone who visits your website.
Think of the TAP Feed as a door, that when opened, leads to your Public Community.
So, what is the Public Community?
The Public Community gives prospective students a modern, community‑led way to explore your institution through:
- A community feed
- Ambassador profiles
- Content posts
- Streams (where enabled)
- Public group chats (where enabled)
- Messaging with ambassadors
Users access the Public Community either through the browser or the TAP App.
Public Community users can message ambassadors directly but cannot message other prospects.
How Prospective Students Register
When a student clicks a TAP call‑to‑action on your website, they are guided through a mobile‑friendly registration flow designed for speed, clarity, and global accessibility. You can read more about the data collected from students at registration here, noting we have a set of default questions set by us, and custom ones that you can choose.
Please watch the short screen recording below to view the registration process and experience inside a Public Community from a prospect's perspective:
You'll note that the final step presents them with the option to either download our app and continue, or to simply continue within the browser. If they choose the browser version, students will be presented with a banner at the top inviting them to download the TAP Future Students App for the full mobile experience so that this opportunity isn't lost in the future for them. This is optional for them.
Why this experience matters
The Public Community registration and user experience are designed to:
- Reduce friction for students worldwide
- Load quickly on slow connections or older devices
- Deliver a consistent experience across the TAP ecosystem
- Provide richer student profiles for ambassadors
- Support student engagement on both web and mobile
With 75–80% of prospects visiting TAP on mobile, this mobile‑first design ensures students have the best possible experience from the moment they interact with your ambassadors.
