Step-by-step instructions for existing clients who use Zapier to integrate with TAP.
Step 1: Identify Your Existing Zaps
- Log in to your Zapier account
- Go to Zaps in the left sidebar
- Search or filter for any Zaps using "The Ambassador Platform" or "TAP"
- Make a note of what each Zap does (e.g., "New conversation → Add to HubSpot")
Step 2: Create New Zaps with The Ambassador Platform 2.0
- Click + Create → New Zap
- In the trigger search box, type "The Ambassador Platform 2.0"
- Select The Ambassador Platform 2.0 from the app list (ensure it shows version 2.0)
- Choose your trigger event (e.g., "New Conversation", "New Message", Prospect Created or Updated)
- Click Continue
Step 3: Connect Your TAP Account
- Click Sign in when prompted
- You'll be asked for your API Key — you can find this in your TAP Dashboard under:
- Settings → Integrations → API Access
- Paste your API key and click Yes, Continue
- Select your organisation/account if prompted
Step 4: Configure Your Trigger
- Choose any required fields (e.g., specific widget or conversation type)
- Click Continue
- Test your trigger to ensure data is flowing correctly
Step 5: Reconnect Your Action Steps
- Add your existing action app (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Sheets)
- Map the fields from The Ambassador Platform 2.0 to your destination
- Note: Field names may differ slightly from the legacy version — check the available fields carefully
- Test the complete Zap
Step 6: Turn On Your New Zap & Disable the Old One
- Once tested successfully, toggle your new Zap ON
- Go to your old Zap and toggle it OFF (or delete it)
- Monitor for a few days to ensure everything works as expected

FAQs
Q: Why is this happening?
A: With our Chat 2.0 migration, we're consolidating on our modern API (version 2.0 and above). Legacy API versions are being retired, which means older integrations will no longer receive data.
Q: Will I lose any historical data?
A: No. Your existing conversation data remains safe in TAP. This change only affects how new data flows to your connected apps going forward.
Q: Can I keep my old Zaps running while I set up new ones?
A: You can build and test new Zaps before turning off the old ones, but the old integration will stop working once the legacy API is retired - so we recommend making the switch promptly. ETA that starting from Monday Dec 8 the API will stop working.
Q: What if I can't find "The Ambassador Platform 2.0" in Zapier?
A: Make sure you're searching for the exact name. If you still can't find it, contact us and we'll help you get access.
Q: Do I need a new API key?
A: Your existing API key should work with the 2.0 app. If you experience authentication issues, you can generate a new key from Settings → Integrations → API Access in your TAP Dashboard.
